| Description |
Presented by ACC International Legal Affairs Committee & sponsored by Eversheds LLP. In September 2007 disgruntled depositors queued outside a small building society in the North of England seeking to withdraw funds. Few could have envisaged that the erosion of confidence in near term credit markets which caused the problems at Northern Rock would snowball into a global problem which would bring down one of the world's biggest investment banks, lead to the virtual nationalisation of large tracts of the global banking system and threaten the stability of entire economies. In this webcast partners in the Eversheds LLP financial services dispute resolution team will look at the implications and ramifications of the credit crunch in Europe and how it is beginning to play out in terms of counterparty and valuation disputes, as well as the likely regulatory response. Issues to be covered include tensions in the derivatives market post Lehman, asset and fund management issues including redemptions, liquidity and IMA breaches, structured credit and the role of the collateral manager, solvency questions including pay as you go versus pari passu, and distress in the syndicated loan market.
